Unprecedented Demand in Locally Produced Rigid Panels

Every year around this time, the pool industry gears up for summer. However much like the rest of the year, this year has proven to be a little different. Demand has already far exceeded previous years, as swimming pools become a backyard essential.

This unprecedented demand has put pressure on local and international supply chains, resulting in Boss Pool Heating (a division of the Boss Polymer Technologies Group) announcing an additional shift at its Melbourne based manufacturing plant, to meet the increased demand for its locally produced Solar Pool Heating products. During this shift, Boss will primarily focus on the production of their Rigid Panel system, Rhino Black.

Boss Polymer CEO Paul Kremer said, “a major shortage of containers, partially 40-foot containers, is seriously hampering exports globally. This has put many importers of rigid panel systems in a difficult position”. Mr Kremer also went on to say that “shipping was also likely going to be more expensive; this was a result of some carriers introducing a ‘box priority fee’ which was outlined in DHL’s October 2020 shipping update”.

The team at Boss have been inundated with enquiries for Rhino Black, with many customers venting their frustrations over significant delaying in obtaining imported panels, which was hampering their ability to fulfil their customers’ orders.

“We do not want to let Australian families dreams of owning a solar heated pool evaporate this season. Boss Polymer is focused on optimising our integrated manufacturing business and distribution channels to support the continued supply of high-quality, locally produced flexible and rigid solar heating products,” said Kremer.

The extension of the manufacturing shift, which is expected to increase capacity by 30% has already begun with stock ready and available now. Boss is well positioned to meet the needs of this unprecedented season. Announcements concerning further developments are anticipated in the near future.
