The Mills family has experienced many changes in the rubber and plastics industry over its past 69 year Boss Pool Heating history. Beginning in 1955, the Mills family has continued the tradition of manufacturing premium Australian-made pool heating products. Boss’s strong focus on research and development and a steady investment in innovative technologies, machinery and state-of-the-art materials have allowed Boss to become Australia’s leading manufacturer since its inception in 1991.
Boss is the true industry innovator, releasing world-first technological breakthroughs such as the Multilayered Solar Collector range, Nano-Graphitic Solar Collector, Rhino—Australia’s first rigid panel system—and more innovations are in the works today in 2024. We have created the world’s first truly sustainable solar collector for the circular economy, providing maximum performance and longevity without compromising performance or durability.
Boss Over the Years
1955 Established Mills Rubber
Established in Springvale, Mills Rubber was a leading manufacturer of extruded and moulded rubber parts for many industries including automotive. Mills also pioneered the manufacture of EPDM Solar Collector in Australia supplying all the leading installation companies across Australia. The company was sold in 1987 with no further connection to the Mills family.
1991 Established Boss Rubber
Boss Rubber Technologies was established by Norm and Elisabeth Mills in Knoxfield in 1991, specialising in rubber injection moulding and extrusion.
1993 First released EPDM Solar Collector
2002 First released PVC Solar Collector
2005 Boss ReBrand
In recognition of their increased focus towards thermoplastics, Boss Rubber underwent a name change to become Boss Polymer Technologies in 2005
2007 Released Vacrel
